Private Label Manufacturing, Answered

Answers to the questions brand founders ask us most often

What is private label (contract) cosmetic manufacturing?

Private label cosmetic manufacturing means a manufacturer produces products, from ready-made or custom-developed formulas, that you sell under your own brand. The manufacturer handles formulation, production and filling, while you own the brand name, packaging design and sales rights. In Turkey the model is also called "fason" manufacturing, and it lets you build a brand without your own factory.

What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

There is no single fixed minimum order quantity; it depends on the product type, whether the formula is ready-made or custom, and the packaging. You can start with lower quantities using a ready-made formula and stock packaging, while custom formulas and custom-printed packaging raise the minimum. Send a quote request with your product and packaging preferences for an exact figure.

What steps should I follow to launch my own cosmetic brand?

Launching a cosmetic brand usually takes six steps: define your target audience and positioning, choose or develop a formula, approve samples, complete packaging and label design, prepare the product information file, safety assessment and ÜTS notification, and move to batch production. Ottoria Kozmetik supports you through every step.

What are the legal requirements for selling cosmetics in Turkey?

In Turkey, cosmetic products are governed by the Cosmetic Products Regulation published in Official Gazette No. 32184 on 8 May 2023. Before a product is placed on the market, the responsible person must notify it to the Product Tracking System (ÜTS) of the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (TİTCK), prepare a product information file and safety report, and make sure the label complies.

How long does custom formula development take?

The time needed depends on the complexity of the formula, the number of sample revisions and the stability assessment. The process consists of a technical brief, lab samples, revisions, stability and packaging compatibility assessment, and scale-up to production. You receive a step-by-step timeline at the start and updates at every stage.

Can I get samples before batch production?

Yes. Lab samples are prepared before batch production and texture, scent, colour and skin feel are submitted for your approval. Revisions at the sample stage make sure the product meets your audience's expectations. The approved sample is then used as the reference standard in production.

Do you help with packaging and label design?

Yes. We recommend packaging options such as tubes, jars, dropper or airless bottles that suit your formula, and design labels and cartons around your brand identity and the mandatory label information. Labels must include details such as function, nominal content, batch number, date of minimum durability or PAO and the ingredient list.

What information should I share to get a quote?

For a fast and accurate quote, share the product type (cream, serum, mask, etc.), your target audience and the claims you want to highlight, preferred packaging and size, estimated order quantity, target unit cost and planned launch date. With this information we prepare a quote with a suitable formula and production plan.

What is Moroccan black soap and how do you use it?

Moroccan black soap is a traditional, paste-like hammam soap based on olive oil. It is applied in a thin layer to damp skin, left for a few minutes, then exfoliated with a kessa glove and rinsed off. The Ottoria Moroccan black soap range contains olive oil and argan oil and comes in nine scents.

Can these product ranges be produced under my own brand?

Yes. We offer private label production in the Moroccan black soap, premium boxed soap, hair, face and body oil, serum, salt and sugar scrub and face cream categories, with options for formula, scent, packaging and labels. Share your product and quantity details via the quote form.
